Four places to start
If you win, you pick where to launch from. Four bases, four different trips. Whichever one fits what you're in the mood for.
Worcestershire
Central England. The Worcester & Birmingham Canal runs in both directions, so you can point the boat wherever you feel like going.
Warwickshire
Oxford Canal country. Rolling hills, canal-side pubs, the quiet side of the Midlands. Good if slow is the point.
Staffordshire
The Trent & Mersey Canal, with the Peak District nearby if you want to tack on a few days off the boat.
Wales
The Llangollen Canal. Cross the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, 126 feet above the valley. It's the one everybody posts a photo of.
All four bases are roughly two hours from London by train or car. Winner coordinates the booking with Black Prince.

Win a free 3-night weekend or 4-night mid-week boating break courtesy of Black Prince Narrowboat Holidays, which can be taken at any point between April and October, 2026 – 2027, subject to availability.
Your prize holiday can be taken at one of the following canal bases featured by Black Prince: Stoke Prior in Worcestershire, Napton in Warwickshire, Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire, or Chirk in Wales.
The prize includes a fully equipped self-drive canal boat which features a fully equipped kitchenette for self catering, two bedrooms with bed linen and towels, a WC and shower room, TV, central heating, plus all your required boating equipment and car parking at the boat hire base.
Excluded is the cost of fuel, estimated between £18-£20 per day.
If you have never been on a narrowboat holiday before, the expert Black Prince team will provide a full induction, from the facilities on board to instruction on driving the boat and operating the locks.

No. Their team walks every first-timer through it at the base. Driving, steering, working the locks. You'll get it in about an hour. We didn't know what we were doing either, and we figured it out fine.
Yes. Open worldwide. The winner handles their own flight or travel to the UK, but there are no residency restrictions on who can enter.
Up to four people total, across two bedrooms. A couple, a family of four, two friends, two couples splitting the trip. Your call.
Any time between April and October, in 2026 or 2027. That's a wide window, so you can plan around work, school, kids, whatever you need to work around. Subject to availability at your chosen base.
Most Black Prince boats are dog-friendly. You'll confirm the specifics when you book, but yes, your dog can come. Ours did.
Random draw at the end of the entry period. We verify the winner completed all the required steps (email, Instagram follows, any bonus actions they claimed). If something doesn't check out, we redraw.
The winner gets an email from us within a few days of entries closing. We'll also announce on Instagram and in Field Notes.
There's no cash alternative to the prize. If you genuinely can't take the trip within the two-year window, let us know and we'll redraw with the next person.
